The Walking Society<br/>Nikos Tsepetis

The gleaming red marble counter and walls. The intoxicating aroma of freshly baked goods. Meticulous rows of lemon zest and black sesame cookies, croissants, and 'koulouri', aka the Greek bagel. Welcome to Red Jane, the red-hot avant-garde bakery created by Nikos Tsepetis, named after Jane Fonda's infamous Vietnam photo and designed in collaboration with London-based lighting and furniture luminary Michael Anastassiades.

This hotspot of design and deliciousness in the heart of Chanià, on the northwest coast of Kríti, is not far from Nikos' other business, the very laid-back, very Mediterranean, and very chic beachfront Ammos Hotel. Then there's Garten, Nikos' next collaborative venture that centres around wine—and design.

Find out what's next for the Cretan who is full of ideas and "full of carbs" in Issue #17.
