THE WALKING SOCIETY MAGAZINE Issue 18 - MALLORCA

To celebrate 50 years of Camper, Issue #18 returns home to the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, famous for sun, sand, and shoes. Legendary British photographer Martin Parr chronicles our road trip with his characteristic color and comic flair.

Down on the beaches and up in the Serra de Tramuntana, we catch up with the locals that give this laid-back island its electric energy.

Welcome (benvinguts!) to the best island in the world.

Issue 18 — Mallorca

Welcome to our island. 500 kilometers of coastline with endless olive groves set against the backdrop of the Tramuntana mountains. Creativity grows wild here too, in the capital city of Palma and the villages that have raised and attracted artists since forever.

For our special 50th anniversary issue, renowned British photographer Martin Parr captures our community, countryside, and culture in his idiosyncratic style.

Join us on a ride around the most beautiful place on earth.

Rossy de Palma

The Mallorca-born artist on feeling Mediterranean and living art. Rossy left the island as a drummer-slash-dancer in a Mallorcan band and ended up meeting Pedro Almodóvar at a Madrid rockabilly bar, wearing all her own creations. The cult actress has many artistic interests—"when I get bored, I get very naughty". Discover exactly what she means in The Walking Society Magazine.

Achilles Ion Gabriel

Our creative director may hail from the frozen wilderness in Finland, where he studied footwear design, but adapting to life on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca came easy. Achilles loves the calm of the countryside, which gives him the space to do one of his favorite things—work. Between laughs, he talks numbers, swimming, and being "the guardian of Camper's DNA" while driving the brand forward. Keep up with Achilles in Issue #18.

Ali Guty

Alicia Gutiérrez, or "Mallorca face in NYC" on her Instagram profile, is Ali Guty to her 50,000+ followers. Born and raised in Palma, she studied journalism before switching to modeling. Ali now lives in NYC, where she's just started acting. One of her favorite aphorisms might be ""Fake it till you make it"", but she doesn't need to. Find out why in our latest issue.

Ela Fidalgo and Marc Bibiloni

Artist-gallerist relationships come down to a very special chemistry. When Mallorcan gallerist Marc Bibiloni met Ela at an exhibition in Palma, it was "love at first sight". Ela had moved from fashion design to art, and her textile work can be traced back to embroidering with her grandmother. Read their plans to go down in art history.
