Natural Materials
MaterialsSourcing innovative and renewable natural materials that offer us new and better ways to be responsible.
Cotton is one of the most commonly used natural fabrics in the world. Derived from the round, fluffy fibers found in the seeds of cotton plants, we have relied on this natural resource for centuries. Its softness and lightweight nature, exceptional breathability, and ability to retain heat have made cotton popular for centuries. However, this widespread demand is damaging our planet because cotton plantations need huge amounts of water. What is more, exploitative practices are often found in its cultivation.
Wool is a natural fiber that has been sourced from animals for hundreds of years. Fully biodegradable, wool is renowned for its durability and thermal insulating properties.
Because we care about innovation and the environment, we have introduced new natural, manmade fibers with excellent environmental credentials like TENCEL™ Lyocell.
Originating from renewable raw material wood, TENCEL™ Lyocell is harvested from controlled sources that are FSC® or PEFC™ certified. These botanic fibers are manufactured using environmentally responsible production methods that recycle water, reducing its impact by 95% compared with conventional cotton.
A natural plant-based material and renewable energy resource, sugarcane is a more responsible alternative to pollutants like plastic.
For our Fall/Winter 2021 collection, we introduced a new outsole innovation composed of 30% sugarcane and 70% lightweight EVA. Sourced from our supplier Finproject, this bio-based sugarcane outsole is incorporated across several lines.
Use sugarcane and EVA material in more lines within our collections.
Harvested from tropical trees and plants, natural rubber is an essential raw material with a high tear and tensile strength. Durable and abrasion-resistant, rubber is impervious to extreme temperatures and water swell, making it an ideal waterproof material for outsoles.
