Hong Kong is part Blade Runner, part jungle, with skyscrapers towering over centuries-old temples and ancient trees. The prestigious Harbour City shopping complex in the northern district of Kowloon houses one of our four standalone stores in the region.
Spanish designer Jorge Penadés has reenvisioned the space, inspired by Camper's Mediterranean home over 10,000 kilometers away.
Within the white tiled and mirrored walls, a freestanding architectural display of curves and sharp angles winds through the store. The single-piece structure features glossy red tiles emblematic of Camper and neon nights, a seating area, and the latest Camper and CAMPERLAB footwear collections.
In line with Camper's ethos, the space prioritizes sustainability, using natural materials like Mediterranean clay tiles and wool. A feat of contemporary design entwined with tradition and nature, much like Hong Kong—and Camper—itself.

Jorge Penadés
Málaga-born Jorge Penadés joins, assembles, and blends unlikely contexts to create furniture, interiors, installations, exhibitions, and educational methods that demonstrate design applies to all.
Recent projects include the Camper store next to the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2023 and The Final (Group) Show exhibition, co-curated with Matylda Krzykowski at Dropcity in Milan that same year. In 2021, Kris Van Assche asked Penadés to design a limited-edition furniture collection for Berluti's Fall/Winter 2024 collection, which launched at the flagship store in Milan during Salone de Mobile. In 2019, he created a collection of vases for Spanish manufacturer BD Barcelona and a chair for The Future Perfect gallery in New York.
Penadés has lectured at leading cultural institutions, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and his work has received solid international recognition in the form of design awards and media coverage. T: The New York Times Style Magazine listed his work as one of the top 16 "things to see" during Milan Design Week in 2017 and his Structural Skin project is part of the permanent collection at the Vitra Design Museum.
